1/22-1/26

No snow in the forecast, so we should be good to go this week!  We will continue creating by finishing our first projects, and take a test on Thursday on Equipment Safety and Class Rules.

Here is what the test will cover:

High School Audio & Video Tech
EQUIPMENT SAFETY, SET UP & CLASS RULES STUDY GUIDE

1.           Be careful not to overtighten the knobs on a tripod.  Tightening them too tight will strip the mechanism not allowing us to tighten them anymore.

2.           Before going on a video shoot ALWAYS:
Check Battery Level, Check to see if there is an SD Card in the camera, & Test Audio

3.           Before walking out the door to shoot a video, you must prepare a script or storyboard for commercials, psa’s, or movies, create list of questions for news story, outline for a how to video and send it to your teacher through Schoology by Tuesday.

4.           Always consider what you are recording before you go on your shoot, so you can select the right microphone for what you are recording.  (Wireless Lavaliere Microphones are good for interviews, or shooting a segment where only one or two people are on camera.  Shotgun Microphones are good for interviews in noisy areas, or for shooting a scene with several people in it.  Handheld Microphones are good for recording interviews or reporter on camera stand ups.)

5.           All camera equipment is color coded and labeled.  Be sure to match the camera you borrow to the tripod for that camera.

6.           Once you have selected which gear your group will use for the day, you must:
Sign it out and get a pass

7.            Crews have 30 minutes to shoot outside the classroom before returning so another group can record for the day.

8.           Class computers are not to be used to play games, watch movies, or goof off in class.

9.           After recording video:
*Upload the videos to a computer when you return to class.  (If you don’t, you risk losing
what you recorded for the day.)
*Delete the videos after you have uploaded them to a computer.
*Put cameras and microphones away on the shelf NEATLY when done.
*Put tripods away in the equipment storage closet.
*Put SD card back in camera.
*Sign equipment back in on the same paper you signed it out in the equipment closet.

10.      Eating or drinking in edit bays, control room, and studio is not allowed and will result in a referral.

11.       A member of your group must submit the group’s video idea on Monday through the online form posted on Schoology.

12.      Video Production is a team effort.  That means everyone needs to pitch in at all times.  No team member should ever sit idle.  Students are graded on employability skills in the classroom.  If a team member is not participating or helping out when observed, they will lose employability points.
